01 — My Journey

My journey into real estate didn't begin in a real estate office—it began in the electrical contracting industry.

For 27 years, I worked as an electrical contractor, solving problems, managing projects, and learning the value of precision and attention to detail. While living in Boulder, Colorado, I took a Principles of Real Estate course at the University of Colorado Boulder simply because I was fascinated by real estate investing and wanted to learn more.

In the summer of 1989, an opportunity arose that would eventually change the direction of my life. I was invited to Cedar City, Utah, to help construct a facility that manufactured solid rocket fuel for the U.S. space program. While there, I developed relationships that led to an unexpected phone call inviting me to Thousand Oaks, California, to assist the electrical contractor building a new manufacturing facility for Amgen.

After helping complete Amgen's Building 7 and bringing the facility online, I made my first significant real estate investment by purchasing a small two-bedroom, one-bath home in Encino. I renovated the property by adding a bedroom, a bathroom, and a laundry room. When I eventually sold the home, I discovered something surprising—I enjoyed the real estate process as much as the construction work itself.

That experience inspired me to enroll in a California real estate course in Encino and prepare for the California Real Estate Salesperson Examination. Fortunately, all that studying paid off, and I passed the exam on my first attempt. (I'm still proud of that accomplishment all these years later.)

Before I was even licensed, I immersed myself in the Southland Regional Association of Realtors® educational programs, taking as many classes as possible. I became somewhat of a sponge, absorbing everything I could about contracts, disclosures, negotiations, and real estate law.

One lesson became clear very early: understanding real estate forms and contracts is critical. Buyers and sellers place tremendous trust in their real estate professional, and that trust must be supported by knowledge and competence.

When I joined RE/MAX Grand Central in Tarzana in 1997, that foundation proved invaluable. As a new agent, I found myself in the unusual position of helping agents who had been in the business for 15 and 20 years properly complete certain forms and contracts.

In 2005, I passed the California Broker Examination and earned my broker's license. In 2018, I parted ways with RE/MAX and focused my efforts entirely on building Ranger Realty. Today, I continue to serve buyers, sellers, investors, probate clients, and homeowners facing financial hardship.

One of the most exciting developments in recent years has been the emergence of artificial intelligence. As one of the world's Certified AI Real Estate Brokers, I leverage AI-powered tools to enhance marketing, research, communication, and client service while maintaining the personal relationships that are at the heart of every successful transaction.

Nearly three decades after earning my real estate license, I still love what I do. Every client, every property, and every challenge brings a new opportunity to learn, serve, and make a positive difference in someone's life.

What I Believe

Real estate is far more than showing homes and putting signs in yards. It requires a thorough understanding of real estate law, contracts, negotiations, marketing, and problem-solving. My construction background taught me how buildings are put together. My real estate education taught me how transactions come together. Combining both has allowed me to help clients navigate some of life's most important financial decisions with confidence.
